Welcome to my new blog. As long as I can remember my mother has often called me Mary B. instead of Mary Beth, hence, the inspiration for the name of my blog. My hope is that you, the reader, will enjoy the daily musings of this creative caretaker. Follow me as i share the things that bring me joy and perhaps also the challenges that can be a part of balancing the creative part of me with the reality of caring for my elderly parents.

Meet the Bee

I was born with a paintbrush and a pencil in my hand, figuratively speaking of course. Ever since I was a little squirt I had to be creating something. I did not grow up on a diet of television so my imagination became my entertainment. I love creating...that is my passion. My newest passion is photography and I also discovered that I enjoy writing. I love reading, cooking, decorating, sewing, painting and drawing (mostly watercolors, pastels and acrylics). I love old stuff and making newer stuff look like old stuff. I love flea marketing and discovering treasures in the most unexpected places. I have discovered that my camera has given me a new sensitivity to the beauty that surrounds me...things that maybe I didn't notice before. I love the outdoors and try to stay as active as possible. I exercise and try to eat right to keep this body that God has given me in good running order. I love and treasure my family and friends. I am formally trained as a graphic designer and illustrator and previously worked in advertising and the publishing industries. Fortunately God blessed me with the most loving parents who, now, in their "not so golden years" are in great need of assistance, of which i am more than happy to provide, so i currently live with them. My foremost goal is to make them comfortable in the waning years of their lives and perhaps squeeze a bit of creative time in between. I hope you enjoy my blog and that I am worthy of your time.

I found this lovely beaded garland at Camille's and for now (until I decide what to do with it) it shall find it's home atop my new dress form, a Christmas gift from family.

Here she is...my twin...hope I have time to create something beautiful with her help...

Getting ready for a shabby makeover...

I would like to introduce you to Apple, the canine member of the family, although totally unaware of this fact, she rather fancies herself as the human kind.
